When travelling at night its important to remember your personal safety.  After a long night fuelled with mulled wine and kisses under the mistletoe you may want to jump into the first vehicle that you see, but how do you know that you are getting into a safe vehicle?  Here at Taxiwise we think it is critical at this time of year to make sure the vehicle you get into is not an unlicensed cab.

To ensure your journey is a safe and comfortable one, hail either a hackney carriage or plan ahead by prebooking a licensed private hire vehicle.

Hail a hackney carriage

Classified only as a hackney carriage, a taxi which can be hailed in the street, each vehicle features an illuminated taxi sign on the roof and a licence plate that can be found on the rear of the vehicle.  All drivers will carry official identification.

Prebook a licensed private hire

Licensed private hire vehicles must be pre booked by telephone or at a booking office.  Virtually any type of vehicle can be licensed for private hire use but a licensed vehicle can be identified by the usual presence of the companys phone number and the license plate located to the rear of the vehicle.  The driver will also carryidentification.
